When to start pumping? 1st time breastfeeder

Hello. I am due in 12 weeks with my baby boy and and in planning on breastfeeding which I never did with my 1st 3 babies. I have a pump and plenty of bottles and bags for storage, etc.
My real question is I will only have 8-10 weeks before returning to work and I want to make sure I have a good solid stash of milk when I do go back.
When is a safe or good time to start pumping and storing breast milk? Soon as my milk comes in, a couple weeks in?
At each feeding on the boob baby isnt feeding  from?
So clueless to all of this and I just want to make sure I can be as prepared for success as possible.

my milk came in the 2nd or 3rd day , not sure. The first week i was super engorged. i just fed my son what he needed & thats it. if i could go back , i'd pump after each feeding until emptying breast.

I recommend getting a haakaa for in the beginning. You will be able to stash a ton of milk bc baby most likely won't be nursing from both sides at each feeding until a little later on. Within the first month I got about 100oz with mine.

I will be going back to work at 10 weeks and right now I use my Haaka on the opposite side while nursing and already have 100oz in my stash at 1 week PP!!! I will prbly start pumpin 3x a day once I’m closer to going back to work at about 6-7 weeks or so along with using my Haaka still.

I wouldn’t pump to much in the beginning because you can actually cause over supply. Also your baby will likely cluster feed in the beginning so you wouldn’t really have much chance to pump to much. I’d pump a bit after each feed (maybe 5-7 minutes) to increase your production a bit, and then after a month or so start pumping to stash. Also, you can pump at work and store it in a cooler.

I started about a week in just once a day and I used a haaka on the opposite breast for 2-3 feedings a day. About a month I started pumping after her first morning feed and when at night when she went to sleep in addition to using the haaka. I have a good size freezer stash and now that I’m back at work so far I’m pumping enough each day to keep up. So I pump at work on Tuesday and that’s her food for Wednesday. Since breast milk changes with your baby needs I want her to get much fresh milk as possible.

Just use a haakka while feeding on the opposite side, pumping before milk regulation can cause over supply. You do not want to pump until 6 weeks if needed, and feed on demand. The haakka will collect milk from the opposite breast without causing issues and leave you with a great supply.
