My mother in law is driving me insane. She doesn't care what my husband and I want. She has been trying to guess his name since we found out the gender at 16 weeks (22 weeks ago😒) because we are keeping it a secret till he is born. And she is so obnoxious about it. She texts me multiple times a day with like 3 names at a time trying to guess it. Anyway. Not the point. She knows it's a family name from my side of the family and we recently told her that we don't want to use any nicknames because one of main reasons we chose that name was to remember someone who was extremely important to me. Her words in response were "well grandma has to have a special nickname just for me and him." Maybe I'm overreacting but this makes me so angry. We literally told her to her face we don't want anyone calling him by nicknames. And her response is basically, I'm gonna do it anyway. Like what the fuck? Also, some back story, she has nicknames for everyone and they are always terrible. And she won't stop using them just because you hate being called that. When my husband was growing up (his name is Brian Joseph) her nickname for him was Bubba-Joe. She called him that until he was 21, when he moved out. And she would laugh every time she said it because she knew he absolutely despised it. She has one for me too. When I first met her (7 years ago) I told her my name was Margaret and she asked if that was what I went by, I said yes and she responded with "You're too young to be a Margaret. Thats a grandma name. I'm gonna call you Margot" she still calls me that to this day. But the thing that pisses me off the most is that she only uses it to make me mad. She doesn't use the nickname unless I am there to hear it so that she can see my reaction.

How do I stop her from making up some stupid ass nickname for my son?
