Am I protected ?

I’ve had sex with no other form of birth control a few times in the last few days and I usually take my pill perfectly on time but tonight I took it 3 hours and 40 minutes late.  Am I still protected ?? What should I do ? I’m on Junel 1/20 but my packet doesn’t say anything about how late is late. It just says take a missed pill ASAP.

To my understanding it depends on the kind of pill... if it’s a combo pill (estrogen and progestin) you’re fine as long as you took it. If it’s progestin only, or a mini-pill, that’s outside the time limit and normally you need another form of birth control for 48 hours after you miss one. So I’d do a bit of research on what kind of pill you’re taking (Planned Parenthood is a great resource) and go from there.
