How have you dealt with toxic relationships?

Currently going through the motions and just being here. 
It’s hard for me, I feel like I won’t be loved by anyone ever. So I settled for someone who, is 15 years older than me, smokes ( uncontrollably) 
Lashes out, shuts down, is a complete slob, and doesn’t want the same things I want.
I didn’t even intend for us to even be at the point we are now. Part of me wishes I never met the guy. :/

Well, i left him. They got physically abusive and also cheated. It was so toxic because he always made me feel crazy and insecure. Even when there was definitely something going on he made me question my sanity. Towards the end he was always angry and i wasn’t having it. I kicked him out of my house and blocked him on everything. I got an apartment and started fresh with my daughter. It will only get worse trust me. I know you feel scared that you’ll never find someone again, and I know you don’t want to be alone. But being free from someone’s constant toxicity is actually the best thing you can do for yourself.

I’ve never been in a toxic relationship but here is what I believe would be the safest way out. Contact friends or family, preferably ones who he has had no contact with and would be hard for him to track. Friends and Family he is familiar with, contact them that this was a toxic relationship and you are leaving, so if anything happens they know who to call the police on.
Get a safe place where you can leave and stay somewhere with a friend or family member that he can’t get to you. Then make sure to get a place to live ASAP!
When doing this block him on everything! Make sure he cannot contact you at all. I’d suggest laying low for a while. If he knows where you work, talk to some co-workers and perhaps your boss so they know if he appears they can warn you so you can leave or hide and/or they can remove him for being a threat to an employee. If this continues to happen they can call the police for harassment.
If he begins to stalk at all, file a restraining order and talk to the police. If they don’t do anything KEEP PERSISTING! This is your safety and because they don’t wanna do their jobs right doesn’t mean another cop won’t take your seriously eventually.
Invest in ways to defend yourself like pepper spray or a pocket knife. Since you said he lashes out I wouldn’t be sure about if he would react violently to a breakup.
Theres a chance everything will be calm and settled pretty quickly. I wish for you the best! Goodluck.

I left him even tho I just found out I was pregnant. Just leave and sort your life out afterwards. Leaving if the first step. I didn’t even really think about it or talk to anybody about what I was doing. I just packed up y stuff and drove to my parents. That was a good day!
