My birth story

I finally have time to write this all out, and it feels completely surreal that it is finally my turn. My original due date was July 26th, but I always said from the beginning that I felt I would have him on the 19th. I'm not sure why, but it was just something I felt strongly about. On the 17th I had my 39 week appointment. At this appointment they told me I had very low fluid and that if he didn't come this week that they were going to induce me on the 26th. My doctor did a stretch and sweep and I left feeling excited knowing that either way he would be here on time. I go home feeling fine and spend the day cleaning and doing chores. I wake up the next day at 10 am to use the bathroom. Much to my suprise, my water had broke some time during the night and my bloody show was all over my underwear. I didnt have any pain or contractions so I was a little in denial until my mom convinced me to go to the hospital. So my husband and I load up the car and we get to L&D by 1:30 pm. They do all the tests to confirm my water broke, and by 3:50 they said they were admitting me. Meanwhile, I still hadn't felt any contractions so they gave me cycotec at 6 PM. They let me labor on my own for 4 hours, and I started to get contractions, but they were totally manageable. At 10 PM they checked me, and I was at a 2, so they started me on Pitocin. By 11 PM the contractions jumped to 2 minutes apart and they hurt soooo bad. I had planned to go all natural, but when they checked me at midnight, I was still only a 2 and I asked for the epidural. What a god send. After getting that I was able to relax, and by 7 AM I was 7 CM dilated. I knew I was in transition soon after because I started throwing up and shaking terribly. By 9:45 I felt pressure and sure enough I was 10 CM. So they started having me do practice pushes, and my nurse had me stop after 2 contractions because his head was almost out. She called the doctor in at 10:04 AM, and by 10:10 AM my beautiful boy was out and brought into this world. Pushing was amazing, and the greatest moment of my life. I've never felt so powerful. I barely tore, and felt so strong after. Such a beautiful experience, and I hope that I get to have more children, universe allowing.
