Trouble with solids?

My boy is 6 months. We started solids yesterday... sweet potatoes. We tried last night and tonight and he kind of gagged and turned his head away. Doesn’t seem to like them. Is he not ready for solids or just try a different food??

Personally, I’d try another food. I only say this because my baby has been eating solids for over a month and she LOVES them but today she tried sweet potatoes and was entirely grossed out. Lol

My daughter did that the first time we gave her green beans (her first solid). She loves green beans now.

That’s completely normal,  most babies do that,  you can keep trying or wait a few days but don’t obligate him.

He probably just isn't a fan. My daughter makes the disgusted face every time just because of the texture but makes an obvious "this is awful" face and gags with carrots and squash.

My baby did that the first time I gave him carrots and peas ( those are the only things we’ve tried so far). However, the next time he did a lot better. He actually LOVED peas tonight. He ate the whole container and wanted more. They say it can take up to 15 times for them to decide if they like something or not. So I would just keep trying and try other things too. I also noticed my son does a lot better if they are heated up a little bit. I’m not sure if you already did that, but something to try if you haven’t :)

That’s how my daughter was with avocados! I mixed apples in with it then slowly took it away and she is now used to it. Maybe try giving another fruit or vegetable with it. She would literally projectile vomit as soon as it hits her mouth!

My son didn't like sweet potatoes when he tried them either. Now (2 months later) he devours them. He likes pretty much whatever we give him these days lol

Keep trying different stuff my little one did this with banana but nothing else

He probably doesn’t like them. I’d stop for a few days and then introduce a different food and try the sweet potatoes again at a later date. The only thing my daughter hasn’t like so far are pea and she gagged and physically shuddered 🤣

Takes a little while to get the hang of it, started with squash which our LO seemed to love. So when we tried sweet potatoes which was a little thicker he didn’t seem to love right away, but a week later he LOVES them 😍
