do they always have to break your water after you get induced in the hospital??

Answer

No, definitely not.  My goal was to keep it intact as long as possible because it cushions the contractions for both mom and baby and reduces the risk of infection if the labor ends up being long.  Some will want to in order to “speed things up” but I fought it as long as I could (ended up getting a fetal scalp monitor which broke my water).
