Damn dula

Ok so my dula keeps telling me deny my cervix to be checked at doctor's appointment which I don't no which doctors appointment that would be she's just saying in general that can be 36+ weeks because she said I can go into preterm labor have any of you ladies experience any of that? Don't the doctor has to check me out I'm 31 weeks today and have a 32 week visit coming up anyone know what that appointment consists of because most of my appointments she just hears the heartbeat
