Insurance covered formula?

Ok I have a question. I am currently 33yo and at 15 I had a breast reduction. My plastic surgeon said he really tried to leave as many ducts as possible and only remove non-essential tissues. Now that I'm pregnant I'm nervous that breastfeeding won't be a possibility for me and I'll have to pay out of pocket for formula. I honestly just want our baby to be happy and healthy so I don't mind feeding he or she formula instead of breast milk if I can't produce enough or any. I'd just like some help with the cost of it. My husband and I make just above the cut off to qualify for WIC so I can't rely on them for help with formula. Does anyone have experience with having a medical reason for not being able to breastfeed and were able to get insurance to pay for the formula? I live in NY and have Excellus PPO. Thank you ❤️

Not exactly the same but my little one has a dairy allergy so she has to be on a special amino acid based formula. My pediatrician filled out a prior authorization form for my insurance company. It didn’t cover the full cost but it was a big help. Maybe call your insurance company or check their website to see if they have a form that your doctor can send them if you haven’t already tried that.

I had a breast reduction, I am only able to produce about half of what my baby needs and supplement the rest. Don’t count yourself out yet. 
I don’t believe insurance will pay for that. However, I went online to enfamil website and if you sign up they will send you a package of like 3 different formula samples which last a newborn a couple of weeks, and an entire coupon book with like $5 off coupons. I’m sure similac can do the same thing. ALSO, pediatricians usually have sample cans if you ask them for one to try they will give you one. My pediatrician gave me 4 sample cans of what we use.

I couldn’t breastfeed due to medication I take (that I cannot go off of or change). I was unable to find a way to not have to pay for it or get help paying for it. Sorry

Formula out of pocket isnt so bad. I dont make no where near enough to be disqualified for WIC I just never went and got it. I'm the only income for a family of 7 and I have 2 kids in diapers and have still been able to afford to buy her formula. We dont get any kind of government assistance. We just manage our money very well. She just turned 1 so I'm gonna be weaning her soon which will be nice lol but what im getting at is you will find a way to do it. It may be tight at times but since it will be top priority you'll be able to find a way to fit it in the budget.

I would try WIC. If you qualify they will provide you with a couple of cans a month.

yeah this city is a bunch of bullshit . youre better off relying on WIC because they give you almost 12 cans a month .

Unfortunately insurances do not tropically cover the cost of formula. There are coupons you can get for $5 off I’ve seen. 
I would suggest you start saving up money for as much as you can as formula is expensive.
