Anyone else have an STD?

I just was diagnosed today that i have genital herpes... I personally thought it was a yeast infection in the beginning (about a week ago) and it got bad really fast. I’ve been an emotional wreck all day and can’t seem to shake the thought of how gross I am... Does anyone else suffer from this or have something to add? I’m so scared

There’s no reason to feel ashamed or dirty for having genital herpes. Life happens, shit happens. I’ve come across people with herpes, AIDs (I worked at a hematology center for a few years, and never realized how many people actually have this until then), warts, HPV, etc. And you know what? All of them, literally all, have found love and acceptance of their circumstances with their partners. The one friend  that got diagnosed with warts came clean with one person of interest, and he ghosted her. She felt like the world was never going to accept her. But, today she is engaged and recently had her second baby.. because the right one came along, and was educated enough to know that it shouldn’t be a deal breaker and that it is something that could be managed. You’ll likely hit a point where you’re going to be super hard on yourself and down because maybe one guy shuns away, but please fucking remember that the RIGHT guy won’t. Plus, usually the first herpes outbreak is the worst and with treatment the outbreaks get few and far in between or go dormant. Not to mention that a lot of the world has already been exposed to the virus in one shape way or form, even if they don’t know it.

So many people have herpes. There is just a stupid stigma around it. 
It’s very possible you may never have another breakout and live a totally normal sexual life. 
YOU ARE NOT GROSS. It’s not your fault. Just find out how to best care for yourself and get on the right medicine. And please be kind to yourself.

Youre not gross because you got it. It honestly happens to a lot of people, whether its Herpes or chlamydia or whatever. Take your medications and talk to your dr regularly about how to prevent spreading it. Obviously by using condoms. Good luck dear!

I thought I just had a really bad yeast infection when I was diagnosed too. I actually have type 1 on my genitals - got it from my husband’s mouth because he gets cold sores. Literally had no idea that could happen! I was pretty upset for a while, but I’ve only had two outbreaks in 4 years, and if I start getting itchy, I just take my meds and it stops the outbreak. It will be OK ❤️ It’s a LOT more common than you think. People just don’t talk about it!

DONT FEEL GROSS. My best friend in the world got herpes from her boyfriend at the time who NEVER told her he had it. Seeing and hearing her ball her eyes out when she told me she thought she had it and wanted me to go to the dr with her broke my heart. BUT she’s now happily engaged to be married this year with a sweet little boy. Her fiancé or baby neither have herpes. It’s very much manageable just take the meds they give you. And please please don’t be the person to not tell the next person you sleep with. Imagine how you felt you wouldn’t want to put that pain on another person. Keep your head up.

Your not alone honey bun 💙💙 run you a baking soda bath with two drops of tea tree oil && it will help. Don't feel gross at all, its not your fault. I got it when I was raped at 13, I just want you to know that it won't stop you from living a normal life just be totally honest. I am married && have children, my husband does not have it or my children. It's manageable with meds && watching symtoms. Hope this helped love ❤

You’re not gross believe it or not it’s fair common and most people show no symptoms of it. Some have been expose when they were children some get it from sleeping with someone who has it. Just take your medicine and you will be fine. Incorporate garlic in your diet it helps

i’m suffering from something like this right now, i’ve been in bed because i can’t walk because of the pain and i have been to the doctors (she couldn’t test me because lack of resources or whatever) she said she thinks i have herpes, she gave me a huge essay and basically just hurried me out as soon as i got out of there i had a panic attack. i still don’t know if i have thrush or herpes 🤷🏽‍♀️
