High Testosterone

I got told recently by my doc that I have high testosterone and that he wants me to take the pill to try to lower it.

But!

Every time I take birth control I get the worst cramps I’ve ever had. Like I can’t move, I throw up and I bleed so heavy I have to empty my menstrual cup every 20-40 minutes.

Is it wrong to not wanna take birth control and just get medication to try to conceive? I’ve already been trying for 3 years and I don’t want to handle more pain if I don’t need to. My doc shut me down and then ignored me when I told him I don’t want to take birth control.

Any tips, suggestions etc?
