At first I thought it was a positive but hubby says it’s a negative. Now I’m confused.

You’re looking at the wrong line. The test is very positive. The left line is the one that matters, it’s the test line that shows up when pregnant. See the picture on the left. If that left line is there, you’re pregnant. It’s just pulling the dye from the other line.
