Too Scared To Try A Tampon

I’m 14 and I recently made the high school volleyball team. They only want us wearing spandex and our first game is on the same week I’m supposed to get my period. I’ve never used a tampon before or even tried using one yet but, if I wear a pad you’ll be able to tell and to me it will make me paranoid and embarrassed. They are also sometimes uncomfortable to me when I’m trying to move around a bunch. I just don’t want to get TSS from using a tampon because I know it’s pretty rare but, with my luck you never know.
