I will probably get shit for this, but it pains me to my core to see videos of babies with Snapchat filters on!!

An old acquaintance of mine just had a baby recently and posted an adorable video the other day of her sweet newborn yawning. At the end she even stuck out her little pink tongue. However, this precious moment was obscured by the dog filter! And at the end when the sweet baby girl stuck out her tongue, the big cartoon tongue flopped out and covered that up too. And no matter what, no matter if she’s taken dozens of others, will she ever get that moment back.

Just recently, my baby boy is beginning to not look much like his newborn self anymore. He’s a different cute now, bright eyed and chunky. But I watch those early videos and cry. His little yawns back then were so big that he’d wiggle his little tiny fists and make a big sigh at the end. I would be devastated if those few precious videos were covered by a cartoon dog face.

I’m really not trying to mom-shame, but really I just want to plead with people: don’t hide your babies. Snapchat filters are ugly and your baby doesn’t deserve to be hidden by that. Someday you’ll want to see every inch of your adorable, now completely different child’s face.
