why can’t i have my period without the pill?

so i started on the pill about two and a half years ago because of irregular periods and REALLY bad cramps. but about 8 or 9 months ago i decided to stop because i could never remember to take it anyways, after that i didn’t get my period at all? so i started taking the pills again a month ago and now i have my period again like nothing happened? now i’m worried that it’s something serious and i won’t be able to have kids in the future

A similar thing is happening to me. I’ve been on the pill for 3 years and stoped just about a month and a half ago and my period didn’t come. At first I was pretty worried I was pregnant but from what I’ve read this seems pretty normal. After taking it for so long your body needs time to get back to normal. I’d talk to a doctor if I were you since it was taking so long for you. 
I’m just trying not to freak out to much about possibly being pregnant. Obviously you aren’t since it had been 8 or 9 months of this for you.
