Cervix check and cramping

My doctor checked my cervix at my appointment today and now several hours later I am having a lot of abdominal cramping. I didn’t experience this when I was checked last week and given my strep B test, so I didn’t know if the cramping now was normal. It doesn’t feel like contractions (or what I imagine contractions would feel like since this is my first), it just feels like intense period cramps. My back aches along with it and I just cannot get comfortable no matter how I lay or sit. Does this sound normal, or could it be early labor?
