Stealing baby names ?

So my current boyfriend and I have been discussing baby names and I have this name I REALLLY like, it’s different and cute and I love the name... just so happens it’s his EX girlfriends kids name who he helped raise for 4 years. So does this mean all my hopes on naming my kid this is lost? Or how petty would I be to use the name..? I need help 🙀🙀

I mean I personally wouldn’t name my children after one of his ex’s babies and find it odd that you’re contemplating it. But, if neither of you have a problem with it and he doesn’t have contact with the other children, then I guess there’s no real reason for you not to do it if it’s what you have your heart set on.

I think it needs to be out. He was a huge part of that child’s life for so long. For him to name a baby that would be pretty awkward/uncomfortable/inappropriate. Imagine that other child finding out their former stepdad just replaced them that way. Or imagine your baby growing up and finding out and thinking daddy named me after this other kid he probably wished he still had, or something. Too many potential weird feelings all around.
You do call him your current boyfriend though so maybe you can keep the name in the back of your head and use it if you two don’t work out and you end up having a child with someone else.

I would personally feel super weird about it. But it’s just a name. As long as you’re okay with that, and your boyfriend is okay with it, then use the name.
