A rant

Chloe • First little one coming 01/14/2020

So I was in a car accident on Friday on the same road my dad was in an accident the day before. They happened less than half a mile from each other and less than a mile from both my parent’s home and my boyfriend’s parent’s home.

We were coming home from a block party put on by the city and we had a great time. I was in the back passenger seat with my 3 year old nephew. My mother in law was driving and my boyfriend was in the passenger seat. As the light turned green we went thru the intersection and abruptly hit a car which caused us to spin 180 degrees. That car then swerved into stopped head on traffic and got in to a head on collision.

All the airbags in our car deployed and I had no idea what happened since I was in the back on my phone. I handed my nephew to my boyfriend and I crawled out the front seat. I walk to the corner with my mother in law and nephew as we go to sit down and wait for police to arrive. As we’re walking away a man gets out of the car with a bloody head. My boyfriend grabs him to ask if he was the driver, he looked at my boyfriend, pushed him off and he ran. My boyfriend began to run after him until a lady stopped him and said he had a gun. His mother and I never saw this happen or the guy.

Everyone that was stopped at the intersection got out of their cars to help and give statements to the police. Five minutes later a girl walks up crying asking where the driver of the car was. The car that hit us was her but she was not in the car. The driver was her boyfriend. My boyfriend and I went to high school with this girl. She recognized him and pulled him aside. He asked for the driver’s name

so that they could identify him later.

The witnesses told us he ran thru a red light (not a yellow turning red a red red light) and didn’t have head lights on. Which explains why no one in our car actually saw the car crash coming.

The cops show up with 3 ambulances, a crime scene unit and SWAT. Luckily, this accident happened right outside of a fire station, but I don’t remember seeing any firefighters. My mother in law was insistent that my dad take me to the hospital and even tho she was right and I had no need to be there I didn’t want to leave. My parents live right across the street where this accident happened and I called my dad who came and got me. After that I’m not sure what happened at the scene.

As we were driving to the hospital there were at least 15 cops on patrol looking for this man that ran. While at the hospital I’m waiting to be called back my boyfriend shows up and says that everything is going to be taken care of and since he was the only one that saw him that he would probably be subpoenaed.

I get called back and my dad stays in the lobby while my boyfriend heads back with me. We’re put in a hallway not a room and we wait. This man with a huge lump on his head comes around the corner and asks if we were in an accident. We said yes and he said he was in the other car in the head on collision. We exchange stories and he goes on to say that the driver of the car was here at the hospital. Still confused I asked how he knew and he said it was unmistakeable he looked like the guy that ran and his face was all messed up. I felt a sigh of relief thinking the police caught him. But no he walked into the hospital on his own. I text my dad telling him the driver is here and asking him to be safe since he is armed (from what we know). My dad says he knows and he already told my boyfriend who went to look at him confirmed it was him and called the detective he spoke to at the scene. My boyfriend also told the nurse that he was armed when we last saw him so to be careful. My boyfriend is livid and pacing and I keep begging him to sit down because as much as I know he wants to punch the shit out of him he could go to jail too. He promises me he won’t do anything but he doesn’t calm down.

My dad said the driver came in with a couple and he told them he was jumped. The couple told my dad he showed up at their house and they insisted on calling the cops but that he didn’t want the cops involved. They the cleaned him up and brought him to the hospital. Apparently he showed up to their house because they were parents of his friend who was not home at the time.

So as we’re anxiously waiting for our discharge papers so we can get out of there and go home. A nurse walks the driver back into the room right in front of us. He looks directly at both of us (well his head was turned our way both of his eyes were swollen almost shut). As I can see my boyfriend’s blood start to boil the head nurse grabs him and says she knows the situation and that the police are right behind him. The detective from the scene is there and mouths to my boyfriend “are you sure that’s him?” He said he was positive. Next thing you know he are our discharge papers and we are escorted around the back to the lobby and last thing I see is the cops entering the room and closing the door behind them.

After all is said and done we were so fortunate to only come out with cuts and bruises. Everyone is ok including baby who had a strong heartbeat of 140. I know the man was arrested and my boyfriend will probably be subpoenaed for his trial later this year but we’re ok. And that’s more than I can ask for. Wishing the rest of you only blessings and safety for these last months of pregnancy.
