Heavy period😭

So a little back story. I've had major problems with my period in general. They are super irregular and when I do have them, they are super heavy! Doctors say it could be cause of the implant I had from 2013 to 2015 or my diabetes. Anyways, I was wondering how you ladies prevent leaking while using pads? I use the extra long pads but still somehow bleed through. 💔😭 and if you have any suggestions on different products to use (tampons, cups, etc) it would be much appreciated!
