Depo shot?

I’m going to be getting the depo shot for my birth control and want to know everything about it and everyone’s experiences with it. Does it stop you from getting periods or make it irregular? Does it mess with fertility? I just don’t want the IUD or the pill or implant because I won’t remember to take the pill, and don’t want something in my arm. The IUD also isn’t for me. I just had a baby and don’t want to be getting pregnant any time soon and need something to help with my heavy, painful periods. Thanks in advance!
