Did you experience cramping before your first period postpartum?

I’m mainly curious about mamas who are breastfeeding. Did you cramp before your first period and if so, for how long? Personally, I’ve been having some serious cramps for a couple months and still nothing. Not sure if this is normal 🤷🏼‍♀️

I had what I would call “phantom periods” for a few months before my real period returned. I felt like shit, bloated, crampy, fatigued, but no period. I felt like it was coming. Then it didn’t and I felt better again for a few weeks. This started after introducing solids around 6 months. I had one (horrible, insanely heavy, painful period) at 8 months pp. I didn’t get one at 9 months. Then I had another horrible one at 10 months. After that they got progressively better until they were normal again. 
(I made up the term phantom periods, lol.)

I was ~15 months pp before I got mine back, cramps were similar to what I had before. Mild, but present.

I got mine 4 months pp and it was really unexpected. I was exclusively breastfeeding still and we were in another state visiting in-laws. Literally had no warning that it was happening. Just went to the bathroom and had a little blood in my undies and when I wiped. Then the next two days were miserable. Had the worst cramps I’ve ever had. Had to use the biggest tampon they make along with an overnight pad and had to change both every 45 minutes. Plus we were flying during those days so spent a lot of time in an airport with a delayed then cancelled flight. It was miserable 😖 then it lasted almost two weeks. I’m almost 8 months pp now and I’ve had 3 periods. They seem to be getting less and less intense and more back to normal tho.

I was about 4 months pp. I’ve never had period cramps in my life and I had them for that period a couple days before and then during and they were awful. My period was also very very heavy. But it’s gone back to how it was. P.s. I’m 8.5 months pp now and I’ve only gotten it once more.

My first postpartum period didn’t happen until I’d completely weaned. Even when I was breastfeeding only once or twice a day, it stayed away. I weaned completely at 7 months and my period returned a few weeks later. 
It was a completely normal period. I was moody for 2 days leading up to it, had cramps about 6-8 hours before it started that continued for the first 48 hours, and my period lasted 4 days. All of this is typical of my normal periods.

How many months pp? Your uterus could still be trying to go back to normal and that’s why you’re experiencing cramps.
