How accurate is fundal height?

Hi all! Just wondering how accurate fundal height is in comparison to how big baby is! I’m measuring 3 weeks ahead but won’t be having another ultrasound for at least another 3 weeks to actually know how big little one is. OB said that she’s either just a little chunker or she could be tall but I know
That doesn’t necessarily mean shes either so just looking for anyone who has a similar experience 🙂

I always measure behind and I gave birth to a 7lb3oz baby and a 7lb15oz baby.  It can be an indicator of being “ahead” or “behind” but your body shape and torso length can also play into the measurement.

It’s not very accurate. My doctor doesn’t even do it until after a growth scan at 30-32 weeks so that he can have a comparison.

I’ve heard not very accurate. My mom always measured weeks (like 4 on average) ahead, and we were all 7-8lbs!

It's very inaccurate! But it gives an indication of you need a growth scan. I measured ahead at my last appointment at 28 weeks. If I still measure above the line at my 31 week appointment, they will book a scan for 35 weeks. My midwife wasn't worried at all.

I measured wayyyyy behind 37w when I delivered and my baby girl was 7lbs10oz and 21in long. She was in my back the whole pregnancy I wasn’t even showing until well past 30w
