To circumcise or not?

It might be early to start thinking about this, but now that I found out I'm having my second child, and this time is a boy, I started to think about this new whole world that has opened up for me! Anyway, any thoughts about circumcision?

I circumcised my son and will this time too if it’s another boy. To me it’s preventative, just because it isn’t a problem for everyone doesn’t mean that it won’t someday be a problem. And it’s much easier and less painful when he’s a newborn than later on in life if and when it does become a problem. You do what you feel is best.

I had my first son done and regretted it after I did my own research. This baby wont be getting it done. Theres no medical reason to do it.

My husband isn’t, but even if he was, our son would not be. It isn’t our penis to decide whether or not a cosmetic procedure is done. We believe in bodily autonomy and our children being born whole and perfect. We didn’t circumcise any of our 4 daughters - why would we do any different for a son?

I’m struggling too. My husband isn’t and hasn’t had any issues and doesn’t want us to. My dad isn’t and has had issues and has begged me to get it done to my son. My dr said there’s no medical reason to do it as long as you care for it properly. I’ve heard of it going wrong and having issues. Sometimes I think we’ll I’m not piercing my daughters ears until she can ask for it and can care for it herself so why would I cut his penis? Uck, it’s a hard decision.

My first 2 are circumcised, just bc that’s what you do. I researched more and my other 2 sons aren’t. It’s not necessary, it’s considered cosmetic. They say there’s less likelihood of uti, but we’re talking like 1%, that’s barely anything. None of my boys have ever had a uti. Also, with my 2nd son who was circumcised we struggled a lot with adhesions until he was 1. If you decide to do it I’d strongly recommend requesting a local anesthetic. With my older boys they just gave them sugar water! That’s not helpful when you’re cutting their privates. Good luck making the decision!

My husband had to have his done at 10 years old. The foreskin wouldn’t retract. He says it was painful to recover from as a child. I told him that if we have a boy, I will let him decide because of his experience. I work in a special care nursery, and I’ve seen babies after theirs has been performed. Babies seem fine. They appear just as calm and content as any other baby in the nursery. Of course this is just info to share with you, everyone should do what they feel is right for their child.

They are born perfect and we have come a long way in showering and proper hygiene. My husband is cut, but if we have a boy he will stay whole.

My husband is & I’m leaving it 100% up to him if our baby is a boy. He has told me that he wants it to be done.

I have both of my sons done, and would do it over again if I had the choice. Working in the medical field I have first hand seen them done, baby experience very very minimal discomfort. There are many preventative reason I went ahead and chose to do so. I’ve seen grown men have to come back in later age and the recovery is brutal, nearly unbearable.
