Anyone had a meniscus repair surgery?

I tore what my physical therapist believes is my meniscus. This was about a year ago. I went through a full round of therapy that seemed to help a little until I got back to work and tried to get into the gym. It started hurting again so I backed off. UNTIL we had to move last week. Our helper bummed out on us so I ended up having to move the heavy things myself. I think I’ve reinjured it, or just made it a lot worse. I’m having swelling, bruising, increased pain, limited mobility and LOTS of painful popping. 
So, anyone had a meniscus tear? What was surgery like? How much was it? 😅

I’ve had surgery to repair my meniscus, clip a bone spur, and removed scar tissue in my knee. I went into an outpatient surgery clinic and was in and out in about 4 hours. Swelling was bad the first few days. They had me go to physical therapy the next day and try to move it as much as possible. Then my second physical therapy appointment they ended up ripping my stitches from trying to get me to move more than what my doctor recommended. I ended up not going back to physical therapy and just did the exercises at home. I haven’t had any real problems since other than the arthritis I had in my knee before the surgery.

That sounds similar to what I had. My plica band (sorry if that’s spelled wrong) was out of place and rubbing on my bones in a bad way. They had to go in and smooth down my bones that were roughed up and move my plica band to make sure it was in the correct place and didn’t move away again. I also had a cyst they cleared out. But before surgery, they did think it was my meniscus. Unfortunately, my surgeon told me it’s more likely to happen with my other knee now that it’s happened to one. I was diagnosed with Patella-Femoral Pain Syndrome in high school, but I don’t think that necessarily had anything to do with it since I didn’t have the symptoms leading to my surgery until after a biking accident.
