Limited amount of ultrasounds??

The receptionists at my obgyn are telling me that I only get TWO ultrasounds my entire pregnancy, the initial scan (which we received on Tuesday at 8 weeks) and the second scan being at 20 weeks to determine the gender. She mentioned that unless the doctor sees a medical need for additional scans that insurance usually will only pay for two. She said I could request additional scans but I may have to pay for those out of pocket. This seems absurd to me! Anyone else have this issue as well? I think I will be calling my insurance company to verify. (I am a female veteran using community care since the V.A. Nearest me does not have the capability to offer maternity care. Therefore my pregnancy is covered by triwest) No matter what, I am just thankful to be pregnant after losing two babies early on, I just yearn for that reassurance that all is well with our lil nugget 💓🌈 picture of our very first ultrasound below 🥰
