Ariana Elyse-Birth Story

KeKe

I was induced on 8/20 at 39+3 weeks at 6am. I started losing my mucus plug 3 days before and the morning of the induction I started having my bloody show. I got to the hospital and got started on Pitocin (I was already contracting and was at 2.5cm 50% effaced and baby was high up). I progressed to 4cm but was the same effacement. My contractions and cramps were tolerable but were getting a little stronger so I got staydol (spelling may be wrong). It didn’t take away pain but made me relaxed enough to nap. By 5pm I woke up with really strong cramps that were painful. I got checked and was at 5cm. I immediately asked for the epidural. The anesthesiologist was gone for the day and had to be called back to the hospital. It took an hour and by then I was crying in pain. He showed up and the 1st time he inserted the needle it wasn’t in the right place and I cried harder because it hurt. He did it again and got the medicine started. Only my left side became numb and was given the button to inject myself with more. Finally my right side became numb and my Dr broke my water. Meconium was in it and I was at 7cm 75%. Maybe 20 minutes later I was checked again and was at 10cm 100%. I couldn’t feel a thing and was told when to push. 3 pushes and baby girl was out and so did a big splash. Apparently all of my water wasn’t broken. At 8:04 pm she was here and getting suctioned and then we were skin to skin. My husband cut the cord and waited for my placenta to be delivered. Since this was our last baby they left my epidural in so I could get my tubes cut the next morning at 8am. If anyone is curious how that went I’ll post a separate story if asked. I’m happy she’s here and in my arms. The Dr informed me he was happy we did the induction when we did because my placenta had started deteriorating and calcifying. My blood pressure near the end of pregnancy played a part. We came home this evening and is resting the best we can (I’m in the worst pain due to the Co2 gassed used during my tubal and can’t release these gas pains!!) I wish the remaining mommy’s best of luck and I can’t wait to read all of the new birth stories!
