Protein in urine?

So with my first i had high blood pressure reading at 38 weeks so they induced me. This time around my blood pressure is normal. They are still checking me for preeclampsia because of my history. Im 20 weeks and they did a clean catch urine this morning and they found protein in my urine. 
Now they want me to do a 24 hour urine collection. 
I did this cleancatch in the morning before i had any water and my pee was cloudy and dark so im wondering if i was just a bit dehydrated and thats why they found protein..
My blood tests all came back fine. Anyone have any experience with protein in urine and the 24 hour collection. Im trying not to freak out..

It can be normal if it’s just a little bit. Dehydration wouldn’t cause it. You’ll find out more once they do the 24hr collection and test it. Depending how much protein they find it can be as simple as a UTI, or as serious as preeclampsia.

I had the beginning signs of preeclampsia with my son who was born at 30 weeks. this time, i did have a little protein in my urine, and did the 24 hour catch. The protein in my urine was due to an infection. The 24 hour catch was because of another preexisting condition.
However, my son had the same thing happen that you did and his 24 hour came back normal. We assume he was a bit dehydrated.
