Is it irresponsible to throw clothes away instead of donating them?

Depends on the quality of the clothing.
If they are worn down, have holes or bad stains, just throw them away.

It depends what condition they’re in for me. If they’re in good shape for someone else to wear, I donate. If they’re way too dirty or falling apart, I either reuse the fabric (for rags or cleaning) or throw it away

Did you know there places like value village will sell most of the clothes we donate by the ton to third world countries? Did you know that there are now countries refusing these because they have too many clothes? I get it but I think there are better options if you're trying to help people in need. However there are lots of less popular places that are more responsible with the donations they receive that I would be happy to support

Depends if it used to be my sisters. Example, beautiful Mongolian dress from my aunt, had it for years - pristine. My sister gets it when I outgrow it, bam, it's stained and the collar is falling off.🙄

I donate anything that looks like in new condition. At least once a year I go through our closets and donate whatever we don't really wear anymore. My brother just throws them away though, even if they've never been worn. I see it as wasteful. There's so many places around here where you can just drop them off so there's no reason not to
