Stopped accepting bottles!
So I returned to work 2 days ago and had to leave early both days to come home because my son (11 weeks old) wasn’t taking the bottle. I’ve been nursing him since birth, but we did introduce a bottle around 4 weeks and continued to give him 1 bottle a week just to make sure he still would. Now all of the sudden he seems to be nipple confused. He opens for the bottle and gums it, but doesn’t latch properly to actually suck the milk out. As the day goes on, he obviously gets hungry and angry, so bottle feeding becomes a struggle and aversive to him. My parents are watching him while I’m working and they tried different positions, different rooms, temperatures of the milk, etc. it’s the very same bottles he was taking fine before (Tommy Tippee stage 1). I’m off today and tried a bottle while out and about with no success. Any tips? My daughter who is now 3 had the same issue, except she NEVER accepted a bottle at all! At least with her I didn’t return to work until she was 6 months and she was able to learn an open cup and sip cup and also had baby food to fall back on when I wasn’t around. My little guy will start with an in-home daycare provider in 3 weeks and he needs to be able to take a bottle!!
