When are you telling your family/close friends about your pregnancy?

We decided to tell our parents early on since they’ve known about our previous miscarriages anyway. We told our siblings after our last ultrasound where we heard the heartbeat and everything appeared normal. My sister in law made us feel weird about sharing the information so early at 9 weeks, and that we’re not out of the woods yet until 13 weeks. We want to tell our close friends today at dinner but feel anxious about it like it’s something we’re doing wrong. We don’t plan on announcing to everyone until 13 weeks, but figured it’s silly to put off telling our best friends. 
When did you guys spill the beans?

you’re not “out of the woods” until the baby is born. anything can happen at any time. i wanted to be able to celebrate whatever time i got with all the important people in my life so we told them right away

That was really rude of your sister in law. Tell people whenever you’re comfortable. Obviously with previous losses you know you’re never really ‘out of the woods’ that was just an unnecessary thing for her to say.

I told my mum and couple of my closest friends almost straight away. My personal view is that if something was to happen with the pregnancy then those are the people I’m going to need around me and I’ll tell them anyway. Why not share the happiness too?! God forbid the worst happens those people are there to support you

I am having the same dilemma. We’ve told some close friends but we are dying to tell our parents. Last pregnancy ended in a miscarriage and our families found out I was pregnant that way.. it was hard. I am toying with the idea of telling them early because I would be telling them if something bad happened too right? I think there is  the pressure of not telling until 12 weeks but if it’s your close  friends and family I see no harm in doing that because they are going to be your support system!

We told our close friends and family right away but that’s because we did IVF and everyone knew when we would find out.

We shared the news after the first ultrasound and measurements (7 weeks) because everything looked and sounded healthy and I wasn't at high risk for miscarriage.

My husband had blabbed to some people early but we told family at 8 weeks and made our public announcement at 12 weeks.

First pregnancy we told our families the same week we got a positive test (I was 4 weeks exactly when I found out). We then told our close friends around 10 weeks which was after our first ultrasound. We then announced on social media at 20 weeks when we knew the gender. 
Second pregnancy we found out when I was 3 weeks and 3 days (yes very early) and didn’t tell anyone except my mom (I was 5 weeks when I told her because I wanted support in case we lost baby) until we were 10-11 weeks even though we had our first ultrasound at 8 weeks. We then told close friends at 12 weeks and announced on social media at 14 weeks. We didn’t really want to announce on social media that soon, but our families were telling everyone and people started asking me in comments and such.

I told my parents almost immediately, my grandma at 8 weeks and my husbands family still has no idea(they hate me because I had a child before I even met him) so for his family we are waiting until we know the gender(around 15-16 weeks) when we do pur gender reveal photo shoot
