What do contractions feel like?

As a first time Mum just asking what do contractions feel like? I woke up in the middle of the night with back pain, my stomach was hard & tight. I got up moved around sat up now I’m not feeling it so I’m assuming could have been braxton hicks?

Sounds like Braxton Hicks. Contractions will come and go and won't stop no matter what you do. Mine also felt like period cramps.

My OBs told me that you can tell the difference between Braxton Hicks and true labor contractions because you can’t walk or talk during real contractions. I found this to be true.

Contractions feel like period pain..in the beginning its a dull ache and the  as the contractions go on it gets more intense

For me they started off with light period cramps. I never could feel the tightening of my stomach so I didnt think it was contractions. But then the pain got worse and worse. You'll be able to tell when it's a contraction because the pain is horrible and you'll be able to time them.
