My husband and I are living in AZ, expecting our first at the end of November. I have asked my family not to visit AZ until January because I want time to bond and heal. My family is respectful of this.

My husband feels his family should visit whenever they want to and that I’ll need extra hands to help. The relationship with my in-laws has been very strained for the last 8 years and they have not visited our home out of state in 8 years. I don’t think having them would be helpful for me, probably more stressful than anything. I tried to get my husband to understand that I want the month to bond and recover before having out of town guests.

Any tips for getting my husband to understand visitors can wait until after the holidays?
