Epidurals cause back pain?

Question

I’m learning today that epidurals cause back pain after delivery. Pregnant with baby #2 and I had an epidural on baby #1. Why did I not know this was a thing? Now delivering baby #2 scares me more than the delivery from #1. 😳

There's definitely risks with the epidural, that's why they gave you sign that paper during labor with all the risks. I was in so much pain with my first child, I didn't care to read what I was signing. I did not have back pain, however I had migraines for months after. I'm 25 weeks with our third baby and I'm going without the epidural, I delivered our second child naturally and it was tough, but I recovered immediately after he came out. I was out the bed with makeup on and my hair curled nursing him and rocking him.

It all depends. Yes they definitely could but that doesn’t mean it will for sure. I had one with my first as well. No issues after at all. I plan to still get one with this baby. It’s up to you and if you feel the pros outweigh the cons.

I have a history of headaches so I avoided an epidural with my first knowing that was a side effect. I plan to go unmedicated again this time. It is all about weighing the pros and cons. I was more concerned with taking care of a newborn after nerve pain. But some mamas really fear the level of pain during labor. So you have to decide for yourself what seems more scary. Labor pain to me was part of the process but not everyone feels that way.

It does happen, but I don’t think it’s common. If you don’t want to risk it, you certainly don’t have to get one! But I believe MOST people are fine and complications are unusual. 
I had my daughter at home with no pain medication and honestly it was fine. I think a lot of the pain depends on position of you and your baby. For me, laying on my back was TERRIBLE, so I gave birth in a sort of standing/squatting position which worked for me. Depending on how your baby is coming down, standing might hurt and laying down might feel good. So if you decide to go epidural free, try a lot of different birthing positions to see what feels good. Honestly, your body will probably start going that way even without you realizing, so listen to your instincts. Good luck with whatever you choose to do!

I've gotten epidural 5times and no back pain problem at all now pregnant with bby #6 and planning on getting it ones i can't take the pain no more

My epidural from my first never bothered me but the epidural I got in labor with my second messed me up. It was heaven in the moment but I still get random and terrible pain from it.
Planning on doing this one unmedicated.

I had pain for a few months at the site of the epidural. It wasn’t that bad and I would say the epidural was still worth it to me.

I had extreme back pain after my first epidural. It was a few hours later in the evening and into the next morning. Although I’m thinking I will go for the epidural again or I may just play it by ear.
