Would you work or stay home if you were in my position?

Question

I have a 15 month old that isn't really around anyone but me all day, everyday. I have no family that comes around. Her dad works out of town half the week. She gets bored and so do I. My husband makes good money but he doesn't give me much, $200 a month or so. It just doesn't go far especially when I wanna buy for my baby. All bills are paid, I don't actually "need" for anything, but I hardly ever buy anything I want for myself like clothes, makeup. I'm wondering if it'd be better for my baby to go to daycare while I work, so she won't be bored all day and will be around other people. I would worry a lot about her though. I would make good money as I'm a nurse but I'm just afraid I'll feel guilty going to work when I got this chance to be home with her. Thoughts?

I personally would go back to work. Daycare helps a ton with socialization and you sound like youd be happier being able to have your own funds and a bit of human contact outside of home. What i would do is try to find something part time or hours that still allow you some time with her during the week and then youd be able to have your own funds and time away from the house as well as some time with your little one. Thats just my oppinion, though, you need to do what feels right for you and your family.

I would definitely get back to working so I can have my own money to spend on my child.. And daycare would be good for her being that she won’t be bored. I would do it

If working part time is an option maybe try to do that for now, see how it goes. Or just try to get out of the house more

definitely go back to work. i promise your child will be fine in daycare. maybe try a 8-5 clinic job instead of working in a hospital or something. you’ll be much happier with having money.. and if you aren’t, you can always quit and go back to staying at home.

You are too smart not to put your schooling and brains to use! It's great you could stay home, But if you feel like you would like to work you could totally find a part time or float position somewhere. I'm in the same boat, but I can do whatever I want with our money after bills are paid but I like to work! It wouldn't hurt to look and see if something interests you and going to a day care or learning center will be good for your daughter, I could never get into those mommy and me groups... it just wasn't my thing. You could always wait until shes school age too... but it won't hurt her if you choose to do it now... good luck!!

Maybe look at taking on part time? Gives you extra cash- and mom and baby get some time away and to experience new things but it also leaves you with opportunity to have time with your child!

I would never go back to work if given the option. There are so many other ways to socialize your child besides daycare and I wouldn't like someone else doing the daily care for my children. That's my job as their mother.

Look into a part time work from home job? There are plenty out there for nurses. That way if you decide you dont want to take her to daycare that day or if she is sick then you dont have to worry about it.
