Does breastfeeding hurt at first?

I’m due on 09/20 and no sign of labor yet. My husband was sucking on my boob this morning after a romp in the hay and he got a drop of milk. It hurt a lot! I squeezed my nipples and more came out but not much and I had to squeeze hard. Nothing would come out of the nipple he hadn’t sucked on.

Yes it does. Anyone who tells you it doesn’t is lying. If it’s excruciating, it’s probably baby’s latch is wrong, but it DOES hurt at first. Your nipples have never been sucked on constantly, so it takes your body some time to adjust! But they will get used to it! It can just take 2-4 weeks. Use lots of nipple cream & warm cloths! If it’s terrible pain, see a lactation consultant to evaluate the latch!

Definitely. My nipples were so sore for the first month, but your nipples will get better after that. Get nipple cream!

Yes- as everyone has said it really does. I say if you can deal with it for the first month, then it will be easy going forward. You just gotta pull thru and then it gets better. And the feeling of succeeding at it is priceless! If you can do it, go for it momma!!! My goal was to breastfeed 12 months and I did 14 months. Was all worth it

I found it extremely painful and quit at 5 days because I dreaded feeding my son. I really wish I would have stuck it out a bit longer, but I was cracked and bleeding. I hear Dr Jack Newman’s cream is amazing! So I am getting a prescription for some for this time and hopefully things work out better for me this go.

Yes it does! Stock up on nipple cream but if it persists see an LC it could be the latch and not you. I also pumped right out of the hospital because I was engorged going from an A To almost a D, and she obviously doesn’t eat much the first weeks. Also it hurts during healing because it causes your uterus to contract more to get back to normal.

Use a nipple shield if you need, no pain! Then youll have to stop eventually bc impedes flow but it can help

For me it was a bit painful at first. But I think part of it was because my son wasn’t latching correctly. Also it’s just a new experience that your body is t used to yet. But after a while it didn’t hurt, now I can man handle my nipples and not feel it 😂
