Smell down there

So lately I’ve noticed that my private area is smelling a lot stronger than normal, it smells weird, not sure how to explain the smell. Experiencing thick white discharge, sometimes itching, but the smell is so strong I have to put shorts in the wash after one wear even if they’re not dirty. Not sure how to fix it. No matter how often I clean or shower it starts smelling again not long after. It’s kind of embarrassing and I’m scared people can smell it if they somehow get too close to that area.

I’ve avoided shaving due to the itching and I am on birth control (just in case that’s useful info)
