When to feed newborn...

Question

They say to feed your newborn every 2-3 hours. I do this during the day but was told by my PED I don’t need to wake him up during the night.. 
I don’t want to go past 3 hours so my question is: 
He ate at 1245, played and stayed awake then fussed acting like he was hungry again at 145-2. Fell asleep at 245. 
When do I count the 3 hour mark? When should I feed him again... I know they say don’t wake a baby but in my case he doesn’t sleep at all at night..

So, second time mom here. My rule is that if baby is at birth weight, I don’t wake my baby during the night. So if he sleeps 2 or 7 I let him sleep until he wakes and fusses to feed. During day, I feed about every 3 hrs unless he fusses before then.

First time mom and I was anxious about letting him go more than 3 hours without eating too. But since he was gaining weight easily I did finally do it. And he sleeps for about 4 hours, maybe 5 and then I feed him. I know that doesn’t answer your question lol. To answer the question you have, I was told to count the three hour mark from the beginning of his last feed. So if I fed him at 12:45, I would feed him again at 3:45 unless he acted hungry before or woke up before.

Second time mom here as well. I do the same as the other lady. Every 3 during the day but at night if he goes longer than 3 hours I won't wake him. Most nights he will wake up by the 4th hour for food.

STM too. I've never woken mine for feeds. My first would never go that long anyway because she's literally always hungry even at 2yrs old. 
This bub will sometimes do a 5 hour sleep during the day. He's gaining weight just fine so I just offer feeds when he's awake.

Also second time mom, and same as the other ladies. Once back to birth weight, I don't wake the baby up for feeds after his 9pm "bedtime" feed. He typically will wake up on his own by 1am, then again at 430am, and then 7-8am. During the day he's pretty good at fussing for food every 2-3 hours, but by 3.5 hours I'll make sure he eats otherwise he plays catchup that night.
