Period cup question

I just put my first period cup in today. It was feeling like I was leaking and I was nervous for a few hours until I was able to check.

I had a panty liner on and it had a little bit of blood on it but not much. Not anywhere near the amount I thought it would be after feeling like I was leaking pretty bad.

I started out my day with a tampon in because I didn’t bring the cup and needed to put something in because I could tell I was going to start any minute (which I did)

Would I have leaked the small bit that I did because it was blood sitting below where the cup was inserted?

Also is the leaking feeling normal with a cup?
