is this normal for my doctor to say?

im not offended or anything, but i kinda feel like i want a new doctor !

she asked if i drank or smoked weed, i said probably once every couple months, and she started talking to me about AA and support groups to attend, and gave me brochures about it. (im 19, weed is legal here, i know its illegal for me to smoke and drink but it’s seriously very seldom and nowhere near addiction)

she also asked if i use condoms, i said no, i have an IUD and i’ve been with my boyfriend for 2 years and we’ve both been tested multiple times in those 2 years. she said i should still be using condoms, because he could be cheating on me and give me an STD, and she recommended another test! i understand she need to educate people about the risks, but it felt strange that she would say my boyfriend might be cheating on me!

both of these things are explainable, i guess, but it still struck me as odd
