Am I being petty?

So I was good friends with a girl I used to work with. I left about a year and a half ago, we still talking from time to time. The other day she even said she still missed me etc and then I hear she's getting married. I didn't get invited which bothered me since I thought we were cool like that. I would invite her to my wedding. I got over it though and congratulated her of course. I was only reminded of it today when another girl we worked with said she's going to a wedding on Saturday and I just knew who's wedding it was.
This happened with another friend too. I really thought we were good friends, we spoke a lot and one day mid convo he spoke about his wedding coming up. I was a little hurt I can't lie, again someone I would invite to my wedding. And now I have mentally deleted them from my wedding invite list cos clearly our friendships were one sided.

If since leaving you only talk from time to time, it sounds like you grew apart and that's why you weren't invited.

Talking from "time to time" doesnt warrant an invite in my books. Weddings are damn expensive and if I felt obligated to invite every past coworker friend to my wedding, I'd be broke. Yes, its petty be be upset about something so menial. Your friendship sounds like its know just starting back up and to assume you should get an invite is very presumptuous. Shes inviting the people SHE wants. What you do for YOUR wedding is YOUR choice and you need to respect her choices. I'd be ticked off if a "talk once in a while" friend asked me why they didn't get invited to my wedding, so I personally wouldnt go there. Invest your time in the friendship, not worrying about who was invited to what party or event. That's silly as an adult. Sure, sucks being "left out", but she clearly doesnt feel close enough to have invited you and she had her own reasons. Venue capacity, costs, etc all play into who gets invited, and one of the WORST and most stressful parts of wedding planning (coming from someone who dealt with this shit myself) is trying to 'appease' everyone with invites. I got so annoyed that many people 'expected' an invite to my wedding that I bluntly told people my venue and budget doesnt accommodate them. Simple as that.

Eh, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Weddings are expensive and maybe theyve limited it to just close family and friends. If you talked everyday that'd be different.

Does the other girl still work with the bride to be? Have you met the fiancé? Would you have required a plus one?
Weddings are expensive and it’s hard to decide sometimes who to invite. I’ve been invited to old coworkers weddings and thought it was odd to be honest. I like them, we are friends, we grab coffee and drinks, but they don’t know my husband or my personal life. Like we would never go to each other’s houses. I was very selective with who was invited for colleagues and who wasn’t.
