Do you think you can pick and choose what traditions and religious holidays no matter what your heritage or faith?

For example; someone who has no Latin American heritage celebrating Dia de Los Muertos because it speaks to them in a personal way and they like the idea of celebrating their dead relatives and friends as opposed to the Halloween festivities they were raised with. And then this same person who is a non Pagan doing a ritual on the solstice.

Can someone be "eclectic" in how they practice faith and traditions based on their own beliefs and values or is this disrespectful and cultural appropriation?
