Cohabitation???

Question

Do you think living with your partner will lessen the likelihood of him proposing? 
I feel like this is kind of an old school mentality , but curious about everyone else’s thoughts!

honestly i feel like not living with your partner and learning how they live in their space day to day would postpone getting married. i wouldn’t wanna marry someone i don’t know i can live with

I totally thought that said parents not partner 😆 
In my experience , living with someone is when you find out who they really are, if you can even stand to be around them lol and if things can work. 
The whole "why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free" is stupid. I moved in with my now husband at 4 1/2 years into our relationship. Loved together for 5 before getting married (We were also 18 when we got together so we didn't feel the need to rush things). I think you should live with them before getting married. I've known people who didn't and once they got married and moved in, it was way different and they couldn't handle it and got divorced. No not everyone is like that but I've seen it a lot.

I’m Christian so we decided to get married and then move in. Personally I would think it depends on the couple. Some men think well why propose if we’re happy- while others can’t wait to make it official. I would suggest talking with your so BEFORE you make any big decisions like that. What you both expect from it and when you’re both ready to move forward(obviously a timeline not exact date lol) that way he knows you want to get married and have all that. Then years won’t pass by and you just waiting

My husband and I knew we wanted to get married after we’d been together for about six months, but we didn’t actually get engaged for another year or so, and then we were engaged for almost two years before our wedding. We lived together long before he proposed (although we had a roommate at first, so that was a slightly different dynamic than when we got our first place alone a couple of months before the wedding). 
I just don’t think it is healthy to be in a relationship with someone in the first place if you have to hold commitment over their head as some kind of leverage to get them to do the things you want. I wouldn’t have moved in with my husband if I didn’t think we were in it for keeps, and I didn’t need a ring actually on my finger to know we were on the same page in the relationship. We have been together for seven and a half years now, married for three this month, and we are still very much in love!

Intentions and timelines should be discussed prior to moving in. The lack of communication can delay the proposal. 
I made this very clear to my now husband. He wanted to buy a place, and I said absolutely not until there’s a ring on my finger. So we rented and 3 months into our lease he proposed. I didn’t expect it that soon but we talked about expectations. (I was 30, and didn’t want to wait years)

I don’t think it will necessarily but I think having kids before you are married will cause that (if getting married is in your plans).

My husband and I started living together after our first year together. He proposed two years and a baby later. I think if we didn’t live together it would have been sooner. We both did not like some of each other’s habits but honestly nothing has changed as far as habits. Two and a half years married and another baby. Now we have four kids and we’re good!!!
