Supply after a few drinks??

Question

Finally tonight I’ll be able to have a few drinks since having my baby! So how long do I wait to latch him? Or do I pump and dump? How do I know when the milk is good? 
** I have bunchessss of milk stored, plus he takes formula as well. I’m not starving him I promise! ** lol

I honestly didn’t worry about this. My doctor said if you can hold the baby there’s not enough alcohol in the breast milk to matter. I was gifted some of the test strips and they always came back negative for alcohol... I thought maybe they were defective so I bought a different brand, but had the same result. After that, I just stopped worrying about it.

No need to pump and dump! If you can hold baby safetly, you can feed. If you don't feel comfortable feeding after a few drinks, sure you can pump (but you don't need to) and use the milk for a milk bath or something so that it isn't wasted!

You don't need to pump and dump. It's not "stored" in the milk. Depends how fast your body metabolizes alcohol really, usually 2-3 hours for a drink. I feel comfortable feeding my baby sooner, though, as there's very little alcohol that actually gets into the milk. Enjoy, mama!
