Taking baby to a nursing home?

My husband’s grandma lives in assisted living. He really wants her to meet our newest baby but I keep telling him I’m not comfortable taking a 2 week old to a nursing home. Too much illness and germs. Idk. Also I’m still recovering from a csection lol. Thoughts? Is 2 weeks appropriate? If not, how old is?

Have you been there before to see what it is like? Assisted living is different than a nursing home. They are often very much like apartment buildings. I wouldn't take a two week old to a traditional nursing home, but I would take a two week old to the assisted living place my great grandmother used to live, for example.

Definitely would. Just put one of the car seat covers on while you’re walking through and don’t take it off until you’re safely in his grandma’s room and then make sure she sanitizes before holding the baby. 
My grandma died from stage four breast cancer 11 hours before my daughter was born (she had been trying so hard to hold on to meet my daughter before she passed), and I had had plans of going directly from the hospital after discharge (when baby was like 1.5 days old) to her care area in hopes that my daughter would get to meet her before she passed but obviously that didn’t work out. It made me cry for months. So yeah, I’d visit, but that’s just me. 🤷‍♀️

Nope, Definitely not!
I took my daughter out and about, to get togethers, over to family and friends places from that age but I work in long term care and would not take my new born with 10 feet of there.
Even at a year old, if we go by work we sneak through the back door. Residents are full of illnesses and germs and they forget what boundaries are.
Maybe taking everyone out for a meal or to a park for a visit but not in a home!

Nope, I would see if she can take a small trip out if if they have a nice outdoor area she could come out to for a bit.

I worked in a nursing home and was on leave I wouldn’t go on till after she had her shots to bring them my keys.

I literally took my son out the day we left the hospital(2 weeks old)...i just used a carseat cover to keep people from touching him and made sure the family member washed and sanitized hands before holding him and I only let the family member we were visiting hold him, no extra people. I know not every nursing home is the same but the ones I used to work in were VERY clean and we made sure anybody that was sick stayed in their own room until they felt better. If You're not comfortable, thats okay. You dont have to take the baby out. Some nursing homes also allow family to sign out the person in care for the day, they just give you instructions on how to give medications so maybe you could check grandma out and have lunch in your home instead

I did- It was important to me to see an aunt I was super super close to. I had a c section too but I felt perfectly fine already to go. I kept him covered with a blanket over the seat & then we stayed in her room. Did just fine. He’s 3 now, they were always happy to see each other the 3 months they knew each other 😭
