TV shows taking advantage of vulnerable people

Mo

As it's a quiet night, i'm currently watching Paternity Court on TV. I'm sure you US lot are aware of what this show is about.

Reality TV where individuals go to court for DNA tests to resolve family disputes.

In the UK we have and did have similar shows, in which guests come on the show to resolve disputes.

Recently a show was cancelled because a death was deemed to be as a result of one of these shows.

A gentleman failed a lie detector test, regarding cheating on his partner, on the Jeremy Kyle show. Just before the show was due to be aired he committed suicide. The show was later cancelled, and it brought up the ethics regarding these shows and the levels of care guests received before and afterwards.

Do you think it wrong shows like this take advantage of those in vulnerable situations?

Do you feel what happens is as a result of the guests poor decisions?

Should shows like this continue?
