Is it wrong to advertise a used item as from a pet free home if you actually do have a pet?

🙂🙃

I found an ad for a bunch of used baby clothes the other day on an online classified sales website. The items were for sale by owner and the ad specifically said “excellent used condition, from pet free/smoke free home”.

I really only cared about the smoke free part, we have a dog so I wasn’t even worried about the pet free part, it just so happened that that was part of her ad.

So anyways, tonight I’m sending my husband to pick it up and she had just finished sending me a message that said “just let me know when he’s on his way because my dog gets hyper around strangers so I’ll let him outside.” So I read the ad to my husband and showed him the items we were getting and then I start to read him her message which included her address and I’m asking him what time I should tell her he’ll be arriving since she wants to let her dog out and he’s like “wait a minute, didn’t you just say in the ad from a pet free home?” And I was I don’t even know because I don’t care about pet free so I wasn’t even paying attention to that, but I go back to the ad to double check and sure enough it says from smoke free/ pet free home. I tell him yeah it does and I’m just laughing about her lie because it doesn’t matter to me anyways, and I’m just thinking what a weird thing to not only lie about, but to also slip up about lol but then he mentioned that that’s kind of rude for the seller to lie about since the clothes are for a newborn and what if they had allergies or something and were relying on it being from a pet free home and it got me thinking and I kind of agree. I mean I’d definitely be upset if my child or someone in my family had an allergy and someone lied about that. What are your thoughts?
