Prolactin Levels?
Anyone had their prolactin levels checked after having their baby? I’ve posted a couple other times because I have been struggling with milk supply and am now at almost 3 weeks postpartum. My doctor did blood work and my levels were at 74.8 which she said is considered normal for nursing. The range for non-nursing women is 4.79-23.3. However, the neonatologist at the hospital told me that prolactin while nursing has a huge range and 74.8 is on the lower side...more in line with what they would see in a woman who had started her period already. She said normally they’d expect it to be around 100 or above.
Has anyone had any experience with this and have any insight? Obviously there’s no sure fire way to increase it even if it is considered low, I’m just trying to figure out the actual reason for my low supply.
