Play time?

Question

How do you play with a 4 week/ 1 month old baby? My baby is only awake rn when he is hungry or poops and I feel like by now I should be able to play with him maybe or him be awake more? It’s my first kid and any time I try to catch his attention he just stares at the tv or he is cranky for being awake?
Do babies not wake at this age yet? Is it normal for them to still only be awake to feed?

I feel like all my baby did was sleeping and eating for the first two months at least. They're so busy growing they probably don't have energy to do anything else.

Suggestions:
-best thing is talking to them face to face. About anything. Doesn’t matter if you read them a weather report or make nonsense noises. Hearing your voice while seeing your face is the point. 
- tummy time ( just a few minutes, you can start by laying them on your chest)
- black and white graphics. Stripes or polka dot, checkerboard etc. Hold them 12-18” in front of them. They will look away when they are bored of it.  Later you can use them during tummy time to encourage them to lift their head. 
A four week old is not going to be awake for long stretches so you really don’t have to do any of this for long periods of time.

That's normal. They perk up more around the third or fourth month. Then everything happens really fast and you'll be busier than you ever could've imagined! Enjoy the downtime while it lasts!

You can't really do much with baby's at this age. You should enjoy it while it lasts though, my daughter is crawling and will grab my hand wanting to walk around all day long.

Yeah it’s completely normal. They’re a baby have no clue what is going on and they don’t have any of the strength and muscle built up to play really.
You wouldn’t expect a quadriplegic to play soccer so don’t expect your little to be ready now that he’s a month to play.  
You can read to them or talk to them about your dad. Put them in there swing and take them outside holding them. You can lay them down and work their limbs. I’d do ROM for my little.
Enjoy this quite time because it’ll go fast and you’ll wish they were a potato again
