Do you believe a marriage can fizzle out?

Please explain your answer.   I don’t believe a marriage can fizzle unless someone gives up.  But my husband thinks we’ve naturally fizzled out.  We are about to hit the two year wedding anniversary in November and we have two kids together.

It can fizzle out, but love it a choice you both have to make an effort to get things on track.

The thing about life is that nothing is constant including attraction/feelings. He needs to realize that feelings come and go that’s part of life. His feelings will return if he’s willing to put in the effort and be patient. Marriage isn’t about having a perfect partner who you always have butterflies for. IMO it’s about finding someone worth fighting through the hard times for. I’m sorry he told you that he thinks your marriage has fizzled out... that’d break my heart. I hope it all resolves itself.

A marriage takes work. Hard work, commitment,  both partners giving 100%. Every single day.
When that doesn't happen then marriages do fizzle out, unfortunately.

As people grow they may change into different people and just drift further away from eachother and become less and less in common. But 2 years? That seems pretty fast for things to just fizzle down.

Damn only 2 years? We’re hitting our 2 year mark next week and we’re so in love. Marriage isn’t easy. It’s definitely work! But it’s something my husband and I want to work on every day. We make sure we go on dates- even if it’s just a small dinner and a movie at home. Any relationship can feel like a dead end and maybe that’s where your husband is at. Many people think after the wedding comes the fairytale but that’s just not true- it CAN be but it’ll also be headaches and arguments! It’s just a couple who WANTS the marriage will work through it. If it’s “fizzled” out at this point try therapy. I’m more in love with my husband at 2 years! I still get butterflies when he comes home or when he calls me. I love going on dates with him. Sure sometimes we have moments where it’s frustrating but we work together. Best of luck to you and your hubby

A marriage can in fact fizzle out if neither of you work hard to keep it alive. My husband and I have date nights. Usually when it does fizzle it's due to boredom or familiarity. Both of which can be fixed. Couples tend to get complacent, especially when they've been together for years. Again it's up to the both of you to fix that. It doesn't take much. Make a point in spending some alone time together to help you remember why you married this person

I guess you can say that it can “fizzle our” especially after kids, but when you marry someone, you vow to always love and cherish each other, even when things get tough. It’s not easy, you have to work at a relationship. He can’t expect everything to always stay the same and to put in minimal effort and for things to just work out happily. Try marriage counseling and you should both fight for your marriage. Talk about what needs to change, work at it and I guarantee you will find that spark again.
