Does it ever get better?!

Hi everyone! So I’m new to this group but I’m needing some help! Today is probably the hardest day of my life! My boyfriend (of 8 months) left today for 3 YEARS!! He’s in the military and is stationed in Hawaii and I live in WA state. I won’t be seeing him till Christmas and I feel like I just can’t do it!! I’ve never felt this empty and nothing helps! I have no friends so it’s even harder because I have no one to talk. I feel like I’m lost! If there’s anything I can do to help it please tell me?!

It’s always the hardest the first few days after he/you leaves. I remember when my husband and I first started dating, whenever we would leave each other, it felt like my heart had been ripped out of my chest and I couldn’t breathe. I would stay in bed for days just crying. I wouldn’t talk to anyone besides him. I would isolate myself because I was so depressed. In all honesty, it only gets slightly better. You learn to live with it. You get a routine. School, work, FaceTime, FaceTime in bed, repeat. You just really have to work with one another. He’s gonna have down days where he won’t want to talk. You’re going to have days where your mind is running miles a minute and all you want to do is talk to him. You’re going to have to compromise. But if you guys truly love each other, it’ll work out. You’ll get used to the routine and you’ll fight for him and he’ll fight for you. Don’t listen to the people who say it won’t work. This is your relationship. If you fight and work for it, you can make it happen.

I've been in ldr with my boyfriend for 5 months now. In the beginning it was very hard not having him close to me but you definitely get used to that feeling. For me what gets worse though is saying goodbye to him after each visit. To be honest,before he left I was asking myself "will he still want to be with me even though we will be in a ldr?" And he was there to reassure me that we will. Then after a week of ldr I was asking myself "are we going to last a month apart?" But then we did last not only a month, but 5 months! So I'm telling you NEVER lose hope! Everything is possible!
